The Jesuit Church of St Sebastian in square A4 is one of the most important Baroque churches in south-west Germany. It was built in the 18th century under the electoral patrons and captivates with its monumental façade and richly designed interior with stucco, marble and precious altars. The mighty dome and the festive furnishings reflect the splendour of the electoral Palatinate residence era. As the main Catholic church of the city center, it is at once a place of prayer and of sacred music. The Jesuit Church ranks among the architectural highlights of the city of squares.
