Käfertal
A lively old village center on the edge of the Käfertal Forest, linked to Vogelstang.
A village core, a large forest and a 1960s satellite estate - Käfertal in the north-east unites several Mannheims in one district. The grown centre with shops and restaurants sits at the edge of the extensive Käfertal Forest, a popular recreation area with walking and cycling paths known for its spring ground-cover bloom. To the east adjoins the Vogelstang, a planned residential town with its own lake, centre and schools. Historically Käfertal was independent for a long time and was only incorporated in the 20th century, which the old centre still shows today. The tram links the district directly with the city center, while the countryside is minutes away. Tradition, forest and good transport make Käfertal one of the most varied districts in Mannheim.
