The Kunsthalle Mannheim is one of Germany's significant art museums and was founded in 1907. With the new building opened in 2018, whose geometric façade encloses a light-flooded atrium, the institution gained a widely admired new architecture. The collection comprises works of modern and contemporary art, from Édouard Manet through German Impressionism to Max Beckmann. Changing exhibitions are devoted to international contemporary art. Located on Friedrichsplatz near the Water Tower, the Kunsthalle is a cultural center of the city.
