Hardly any Mannheim district wears its history as openly as Waldhof in the north: workers' estates, company housing and the closeness of the large Mannheim industrial harbour still shape the picture today. Grown residential estates and a strong sense of community characterise the district, which emerged during industrialisation around the works established there. In SV Waldhof Mannheim the quarter has a traditional club whose football culture stands for identity and passion far beyond the city limits; on match days at the Carl-Benz-Stadion you feel it across the whole district. Between railway lines, harbour basins and housing blocks lie green corridors and allotments that loosen the area up. If you want to understand Mannheim as an industrial city, there is more to see here than in the Squares.
