Multihalle

The Multihalle in Herzogenriedpark was built for the Federal Garden Show in 1975 to designs by the architect Frei Otto and his team. Its delicate timber grid-shell structure is regarded as an architectural masterpiece and ranks among the largest freely formed timber grid shells in the world. The organically curving roof skin spans a wide, column-free space and impresses through its lightness. As an architectural monument of international significance, the Multihalle is a unique testimony to innovative engineering. It stands as a prime example of experimental modern architecture.
