On the former locomotive-shed site in the Glücksteinquartier, a few minutes from the main station, the burger-grill chain Hans im Glück runs its Mannheim branch. The concept is familiar: plenty of wood and birch trunks in the room, burgers with beef, chicken, vegetarian and vegan patties, plus salads and bowls. For vegetarians and vegans the menu is broader than in most burger places. The Lindenhof setting matches the surrounding offices and new-build flats, so the lunchtime crowd comes largely from nearby companies. For travellers the place is mainly practical when there is an hour to fill between arrival and onward journey.
