Right on the water, separated from the Rhine only by the promenade path: the Rheinterrassen on the Rheinpromenade is one of the few Mannheim venues with a genuine river view. The house is large, and the beer garden under its pergola counts among the finest in the city, busy accordingly in summer. The kitchen stays with hearty inn cooking plus the occasional more ambitious dish, alongside a notable selection of wines from Palatinate producers. Anyone walking the Stephanienufer passes it almost inevitably - though on warm evenings a table without a reservation is rare.
